# Editorial Policy

Karnataka Board Help Center gives KSEAB and PUC students accurate, dated, sourced information for free. This page explains how, so you can judge a page before acting on it.

1. Sourcing: the official portals are the only authority

For anything that costs a student money, time or a seat — dates, fees, eligibility, penalties, procedure — only official sources count:

— kseab.karnataka.gov.in — the board: SSLC rules, circulars, timetables, marks card corrections, revaluation

— karresults.nic.in — the official results portal

— kseeb.karnataka.gov.in/onlinemigration — migration certificates

— kea.kar.nic.in — the Karnataka Examinations Authority, for KCET eligibility and merit rules

— The Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE/PUE) for 1st and 2nd PUC, and its named result portals

— Government orders, official notifications and Karnataka High Court orders, where they are the primary source

Students confuse these bodies constantly, so we keep them apart: KSEAB runs SSLC, DPUE runs PUC, KEA runs KCET, KTBS publishes the textbooks.

We do not treat exam aggregators, PDF farms or SEO news sites as sources of fact, and we copy from no other education website. Kannada outlets sometimes report what English outlets miss; we label those claims media-reported until we see the circular. We check that an official link resolves before publishing it — a dead official-looking link is worse than none, and lookalike domains imitating the results portal are a real safety problem.

2. Verification, and what we do when sources disagree

Every fee, date, deadline, eligibility rule and penalty is published with its source linked and the date we last checked it.

Sources here disagree often. Revaluation, retotalling and scanned-copy fees appear across the web in at least six inconsistent versions. Reported 2026 pass rates include a consolidated figure lower than the first-attempt figure, which is not possible in a best-of system.

When sources conflict, we show both positions, name both, mark ours as unverified, and tell you to confirm with the board before acting. We do not pick one quietly to make a page look tidy.

Where we cannot verify a figure, we do not publish it — we say what is uncertain and where to check. A confident wrong fee is self-defeating.

3. Dating and review cadence

— Every page shows a last reviewed date.

— Fee, deadline and timetable pages carry a separate "verified on" stamp naming the source checked — different from the last-edited date, and more useful.

— Fee and deadline pages are re-checked monthly and whenever the board publishes a relevant circular; rule and process pages at least every six months; subject pages when the syllabus or blueprint changes.

— Two pages are permanently live and re-checked whenever the position moves: the Exam 1/2/3 rules explainer and the third-language tracker.

— We never refresh a date to make a page look new. If nothing changed, the date does not move.

4. Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know.

— Email hello@karnatakaboardhelpcenter.com with the page address and what is wrong; an official circular helps us act faster.

— We aim to reply within 3 working days.

— Clear factual errors are fixed, or the page is taken down. We do not defend an error because a page is performing well.

— Substantive corrections are logged on the page that changed, with the date and what changed.

— Where our information differs from an official KSEAB or DPUE circular, the circular is correct and we are wrong.

5. Use of AI

Some of our drafts are AI-assisted. We say so plainly, because you deserve to know how a page was made.

We do it because Karnataka's rules changed repeatedly this cycle — exam naming, pass marks, third-language marking — and a student reading last year's rules can lose a year. AI helps us turn a new circular into a readable page the same week.

The rules we hold ourselves to:

— A human editor checks every published page against the primary source before it goes live.

— AI is never the final authority on a fact. If a model and the official circular disagree, the circular wins and the claim is rewritten or removed.

— AI-assisted news posts carry a visible line saying so, naming the reviewing editor and date, and linking the source.

— We do not publish AI-drafted material nobody has checked, and a week with nothing to report means no post.

6. Independence and advertising

This site is free to read and carries advertising.

— Ads are labelled and kept visually separate from editorial content. Advertisers have no say in what we publish and no advance sight of it.

— Advertising revenue never decides which topics we cover or what a factual page says.

— Gyaniversity Publications, which operates this site, also publishes paid Karnataka State Board Simplified study guides and an AI tutor. Where we recommend one we disclose that we publish it, and only where a guide exists for that class and subject.

— Some pages carry no commercial recommendation at all: passing rules, revaluation, marks card corrections, result-day portals and the third-language tracker. A student who has just failed a paper must not be sold to. We keep the free pages complete enough that you never need to buy anything.

7. What we will never publish

— Leaked question papers, or any claim to know what will be asked.

— Guaranteed-result, guaranteed-pass or guaranteed-admission claims.

— Paid agent services, admission brokering, or any offer to intervene in a student's board record.

— Scraped solution dumps or copied study material.

— A fee, date or pass rule we could not verify, presented as fact.

— Named accusations against a school, college or member of staff. We publish the official complaint route instead.

8. Who we are not

Karnataka Board Help Center is an independent guide operated by Gyaniversity Publications. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by, or in any way officially connected to the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB, formerly KSEEB), the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE/PUE), the Karnataka Textbook Society (KTBS), the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), or any department of the Government of Karnataka. We cannot issue, correct or re-check a marks card, register you for an exam, or access your result. The official board website is kseab.karnataka.gov.in.
